It is reported that a person from Polonnaruwa, Bandiwewa fishing village has died after being attacked by an elephant at around 5.30 am today (07).
A 26-year-old resident of the same area has lost his life.
While he was staying in his garden, he was attacked by a wild elephant.
The people of the area allege that they have been suffering for many years due to wild elephants that regularly visit the villages, and that due to the improper maintenance of the electric fence built around the village, wild elephants break into the villages.
