It is reported that an 8-year-old little novice monk who lived and worked in a temple in the Gampola – Pussellawa area was brutally beaten by three other monks of the same temple.

It is said that three Theros attacked the small novice saying that the Gathas were wrong in placing the Buddha Puja.

When the grandfather and grandmother of Samanera Theronama came to the temple, it has been observed that the novice monks were in some discomfort. Later, the vihara abbot of the temple was told about this and the vihara abbot who responded said to get the medicine for the layman. But Samanera Theranama’s grandfather, who came to know about the incident, informed his grandfather. Later they came and arranged for the layman to be admitted to the Gampola hospital on the 20th and it is said that the layman was admitted to the Peradeniya hospital for further treatment.

Samanera Theran’s father, who commented on the incident,

“The Gampola Hospital Police was told about this. Later, when I went to make a complaint to Pussellawa police, they said that there is no need to investigate because the hospital told the police. The little monk was supposed to study in the second class of the school. It has been a month and a half since the death. When the big monk is not there, the other monks in the temple ask our little monk to offer the Buddha Puja. , these three monks beat and tortured the little monks for days because they are not used to them yet and the verses get tangled up. Pissed in a bottle. Put limes on the ground and lick them with your tongue. The ear was pulled and torn and beaten until the broom broke. Big wounds on the buttocks. He hit his nose and broke his nose and now his nose is pulled. The little monk said that he had a lot of blood from his nose. When you are hit and injured, the inflammation will come. The big monks have been told that they will die if they tell about this. There are more than a hundred wounds on the body after being beaten like this for days. We ask for a fair investigation into this. A child was beaten in the mouth, a tooth was knocked out and the lips were blown off. Even after many days, the law is still not implemented properly. “
