It is reported that a woman who worked as a health worker at the Colombo National Hospital was arrested at Malgas Junction area of Katunayake with a stash of heroin worth around 250,000 rupees based on information received from the Station Commander of Katunayake Police. This woman produces small cosmetics bags used for beauty purposes and the police said that heroin was carefully hidden in the bags and there were 5 grams and 200 mg of heroin.
It is reported that the suspect was arrested by Katunayake Malgas Junction area by the officers of the criminal investigation department of the Katunayake Police when she was preparing to give a parcel containing heroin to a person who arrived in a car. This woman is said to be a 38-year-old resident of Polonnaruwa – Kalinga Canal area. She also states that she is currently living in a rented house in Katunayake Kovinna area.
The suspect says that she is going to be produced before the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court today (2).
