It is reported that 31 people, including 25 women and 06 men, were arrested in a clash that broke out in Jaffna’s Chhalweli area on the night of the 29th last night, based on a case of two young men posting a video of a woman on social media.
The two youths concerned were injured and it is said that the conflict escalated when they went to the hospital. A police officer was also injured and admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
It is also reported that the police fired in the air to control the conflict.
The police have mentioned that apart from the 31 people who were arrested in connection with the incident, another group of people are to be arrested.
