It is reported that Osei Kyei-Menash Bonsu, the leader of the majority in Ghana’s parliament, has stated that the strongest reason for the deterioration of the situation in Sri Lanka is the inability of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to provide support to the economy.
He has further stated in this regard that the Sri Lankan economy has suffered a crisis, but due to the inability of the Central Bank to support it, the country’s situation has worsened and is yet to recover.
He has mentioned that when the country faces some difficulties, the central bank should intervene and if it is not for the foreign reserves built by the central bank, the country will have to suffer.
And Osei Kyei-Menash Bonsu, the majority leader of the Ghanaian Parliament, has further indicated that it is not in the country’s interest to politicize a country’s central bank.
It is reported that the Ghanaian leader has taken Sri Lanka as an example when commenting on the Central Bank of his country.
