Former Member of Parliament Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra said while addressing a public rally organized in Talawakele recently that a group of women were behind the ousting of former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, and women are taking the lead to oust President Ranil Wickremesinghe and seat Mr. Premadasa in the presidential chair.
She added that it was the women of our United People’s Force who were the first to oust President Gotabhaya from office.
“Even the people in the houses organized work for him. A man who was only like a puppet was shown as a hero and spread rumors that Gotabhaya was a very talented man. They won the presidential election because they lied. If they lied and won the presidential election, why can’t we win the truth about Sajith Premadasa? Sajith built schools. He knows people’s pain. No cases. There is no fraud. Public money has not been stolen. About 20 years of parliamentary grants have been used to build houses. Why can’t we convince people to tell us the truth?
Don’t take a step back saying there is no election. When we take a step back, other political parties take two steps forward. The problem we have now is that the whole country knows that we are in trouble today. The whole country knows that Ranil came to protect the rapists. Ranil can call a presidential election or a general election at any time. We don’t know if this year is a year without elections, but suddenly he can dissolve the parliament and go for a parliamentary election. That’s why everyone here should convert at least five new votes a day to our side,” she said.
