It is reported that the engineer of the irrigation department S.P.C.Sugishwara stated that the water levels in Kalu, Ging, Nilwala rivers and Attanagalu Oya are significantly high, and the water level in the downstream areas of those rivers is also high.
He has further mentioned that due to the fact that no significant rainfall was recorded in any area yesterday (04), the water levels of those rivers are not expected to rise significantly, but people should be careful.
However, the water level in the lower areas of the Ging and Nilwala rivers, as well as the lower areas of the Kudi Ganga, a tributary of the Kalu Ganga, and the lower areas of the Bulathsinghala Divisional Secretariat are still high and the Irrigation Department has stated that there is no possibility of a significant level of flooding in those areas.
Also, the Irrigation Department further states that due to the high level of water in these rivers, there is a possibility of developing into a flood situation if there is high rainfall in the future.
