It is reported that protest movements have been organized in front of all government institutions today (27) based on several demands including the increase of government employee salaries.
It is reported that these protests have been organized with the participation of representatives of several trade unions including the Union of State and Provincial Public Service Trade Unions.
It is said that these protests are going to be held based on the demands of 20,000 rupees salary increase, provision of increased allowances and salaries from January, regaining the full pension entitlement which has been lost since 2016.
Accordingly, protest movements have been organized in front of government institutions during the lunch hour today at 12 noon and it is stated that the main protest has been organized in front of Battaramulla Setshiripaya.
However, President Trade Union Director General Mr. Saman Ratnapriya has stated that it is not acceptable to organize protests for political purposes at a time when the country is recovering from a crisis.
