The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has taken steps to revise the effective annual license fees for licensed commercial banks and licensed specialized banks.
As reported, these fees are charged on the basis of the assets of licensed banks currently in Sri Lanka, where Rs. 25 billion for small scale licensed banks for the year 2023 of Rs. 3.3 million license fee was levied which for 2024 and 2025 is Rs. 3.5 million each.
Meanwhile Rs. 2,000 billion for banks with a large scale asset base of Rs. 38 million annual license fee of Rs. Raised up to 40 million.
Below is the list of effective annual license fees for the two years 2024 and 2025 under each asset base category. License fee schedule applicable for the year 2023 is also mentioned here.
It is further reported that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka states that the relevant fees must be paid on or before January 31 of the relevant year.
