It is reported that a group of thieves broke into the rural bank in Vaikkala, Angampitiya area belonging to Wennappuwa Various Services Cooperative Society, broke the safe of the bank and stole a stock of gold worth nearly 7 crore rupees.
Wennappuwa headquarters police say that the bank’s window grill was cut and the safe in the safe room was cut open with the help of machines and the gold items inside were stolen.
Also, the DVR connected to the CCTV cameras installed in that bank. It is said that the machine has also been taken away by thieves.
As a result, it is reported that CCTV cameras in the houses around the bank are being checked and police investigations are underway to arrest the suspects.
