It is reported that the body of the police officer, who went missing after an illegal liquor raid in Kilinochchi, Puduaiyankulam area, has been found in a lake in Malayalapuram area.
The deceased is a 28-year-old police constable, resident of Pansalagoda area, Valasmulla, who was attached to the anti-corruption division of Kilinochchi division.
A group of officers including this police constable went to the area yesterday (14) on the basis of information about a liquor trade near a canal in the Puduaiyankulam area.
The police state that at the time of the raid, the suspects who were producing illegal liquor had jumped into the canal and swam, and the police officer who was operating there had disappeared while trying to catch them.
