President Ranil Wickramasinghe stated in Parliament today (23) that he is primarily working to build the economy, and that he will not stop destroying the country and protecting the constitution.
Mr. Wickramasinghe stated further,
“There are two things. One was to set aside 20 billion and distribute it to buy rice in this country. It was given to 20 lakh families. Now there are 28 lakh families. Also there are gratuities to retirees here. Then these MPs came and told me. Some money was allocated for small businessmen from the decentralized fund. So tell me if you don’t book it and I will look into it. This council has decided it and tell me, we have taken a decision, especially after the Paris conference on this loan, we have reached an agreement with India and China, and especially from the IMF, we will not touch this money until we give a decision about these proposals. If suddenly we get extended for a month, we will lose money on this issue, that’s it.
“Also, don’t give this vote. But I will say one thing, I prioritize the economy. If it is not built, there is no country. I ask one question. Is it possible to protect the constitution by losing the country? Constitution can be protected only if the country is protected. Go ahead and ask three people to sit down and make a decision. That’s when I get the problem. Neither the government nor I have a problem if such a decision is not taken.” was declared as
