It is reported that three people, including a woman, were arrested for obstructing a police officer and assaulting him.
When a police officer who was on traffic duty near the Jayaraj Fernandopulle bridge in Peliyagoda went to check a motorcyclist who was riding without a helmet, another woman who came to the place at that time had an argument with the police officer and later assaulted him.
The suspects related to this assault have been arrested by the Kelaniya Division Criminal Investigation Division.
It is said that the police officer who was assaulted is undergoing treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
It is also reported that the three suspects are aged 20, 22 and 51 years old residing in Pattiya area and they are going to be produced before the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court today (25).
