It is reported that Mr. Upul Indrajith, Assistant Director of Wildlife in charge of Uva Zone, said that the main entrance gate of Yala Palatupana, which was closed recently due to bad weather, has been reopened.
The main entrance to Palatupana was closed by the control authority as the Manik Ganga overflowed due to the opening of the Weheragala Reservoir sluice gates due to the continuous torrential rain for more than four months and the road system was submerged and eroded due to the overflowing of all the tanks in the park.
Due to this, the army has jointly repaired the main road system with the wildlife officers and it is said that side roads are also being repaired.
Mr. Manoj Vidyaratne, the officer in charge of the park, has also stated that the seven resorts in the park have also been restored.
