The Daily Mirror had sought information about a statement made in Parliament by MP Arundika Fernando that he had served in the Air Force and SriLankan Airlines.
According to the MP, if he had served in the Air Force, information about it would not have been removed from the Air Force. They also recorded a note from an Air Force spokesman.
We inquired about this from a retired Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force to do justice to MP Arundhika and he stated that the Member of Parliament had failed the flight aptitude test and had not even served as a Cadet Officer.
Informed sources also say that he worked in a ticket office and worked as an airline flight attendant. It is said that it was around 1990.
The Sri Lanka Air Force is a specialized agency that preserves the records of its employees for decades, even when they leave. An army soldier leaves and inherits the national salute even at cremation after his death. So cadets keep their personal files safe.
