The awarding of permanent appointments to 51,000 graduates employed in the public service is scheduled to commence on January 03.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Inquiry, Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
He said that the officers will be posted as Government Development Officers at their respective posts, 42,500 who have completed one year of training will be confirmed first and the rest will be confirmed on April 01 after one year of training.
Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has pointed out that about 22,000 public servants who receive such permanent appointments have the opportunity to join the teaching service of their choice.
