The march of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) led by the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa demanding the government to go home began in Kandy this morning.
The Leader of the Opposition said that the Samagi Jana Balawega was not involved in the musical chair competition for the transfer of power which had deceived the people of the country and that the sole objective of the Samagi Jana Balawega was to fulfill the aspirations of the people of this country and stated that he was not prepared to be a part of a Rajapaksa government. .
Arriving at the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy this morning, he paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic and was blessed by the venerable Maha Sangha with a Pirith chanting.
He then proceeded to the historic Natha Devalaya and received blessings. He also visited the historic Asgiriya Maha Viharaya and received the blessings of the Most Ven.
The Leader of the Opposition also inquired about the condition of the Mahanayake Thera and discussed with him the current situation in the country.
A number of leaders including the leaders of the party had participated in the march and today the march is now moving from Pilimatalawa to Kadugannawa.
