The section of the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Kurunegala was opened to the public today (15).
The ceremony was held under the patronage of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today.
A gazette notification has also been issued regarding the manner in which the charges are being levied on that section.
Accordingly, the minimum fare for two two axle four wheelers entering and exiting Mirigama from Kurunegala is Rs. 100.00 and the maximum fare is Rs. 250.00.
Two-axle four-wheelers will be charged Rs. 250.00 for entering Mirigama and exiting Yaggapitiya.
For two axle six wheelers, the minimum fare between two interchanges is Rs. 150.00.
Starting from Mirigama and ending at Kurunegala and entering from Mirigama and leaving Yaggapitiya will cost Rs. 350.00.
Vehicles with more than two axles will be charged Rs. 150.00 between two interchanges and Rs. 550 for vehicles starting from Mirigama and ending at Kurunegala and ending at Yaggapitiya starting from Mirigama.
In addition, you will be able to travel between Kurunegala and Yaggapitiya free of charge.
