The Department of Meteorology, in a statement, stated that today (19) there may be some rain in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
Meanwhile, the department also announced that there may be rain or thundershowers in few places in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts during evening or night time.
The Department of Meteorology has also announced that there will be some rain in the offshore areas from Colombo through Galle to Matara, and the winds in the sea areas around the island will blow from the southwest and the wind speed will be around 20-30 kmph.
The same department has also stated that the wind speed will increase to 40-50 kmph from time to time in the offshore areas from Puttalam to Mannar to Kankasanthurai and from Matara to Hambantota to Pothuvil.
The Meteorological Department further stated that the seas offshore from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota may be rough at times.
