The Meteorological Department states that further showers are expected due to the turbulent nature of the lower atmosphere around Sri Lanka.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at many parts of the island.
In the North, North-Central, North-Western, Eastern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and some parts of the Central Provinces. A statement issued by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said that there could be more than 100 showers.
In other areas as well, in some places mm. There may be showers or thundershowers at around 75.
In the Southern Province, wind speeds may increase up to 40-45 kmph at times.
People are urged to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers posed by temporary strong winds and lightning along with thunder showers.
