Heavy rains are expected in many parts of the island these days. Landslide threats are also common in mountainous areas. The Ratnapura district also received heavy rainfall. The road in the area is already cracked.
At the same time, large boulders had fallen on the Weligepola Henyaya road. Meanwhile, a mound of earth has collapsed near a house in the same area. It is also a specialty that it has come little by little and that mound has reached as far as the corridor of the house. Many homes in the area are said to have this problem.
However, the relevant authorities in Weligepola or Sabaragamuwa have not yet taken action and neither the public representatives nor the authorities in Weligepola have inquired into the matter. However, many lives could be lost due to the lack of a quick fix for this.
Therefore, we request the Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province, the District Secretary of Ratnapura, the Chairman of the Weligepola Pradeshiya Sabha and other Members of Parliament, the Divisional Secretary to immediately look into this matter and grant some relief to these people. There is no point in being active after something has happened.
