Mr. Patali Champika, Member of Parliament, said that there will be no confidence in the country either internationally or locally until Henchai Rajapakse’s rule ends and their hands make decisions in the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation as well as the Electricity Board. He announced this while attending a press conference yesterday (29).
Stating more facts, he said that before this problem gets worse and the country becomes a river of blood, Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa should resign and convene the parliament within 24 hours and appoint a president through a secret ballot, and an all-party rule should be established.
It was also mentioned that Sri Lanka will have to pay a sovereign bond of 1000 million dollars on the 25th, that a company that owns 250 million dollars has already filed a lawsuit against Sri Lanka, and that it is doubtful that Sri Lanka will receive support from the International Monetary Fund due to the impact of that case.
People were affected due to the stoppage of production in the country and opinions were expressed about the collapse of the fields. It was also stated that the government should provide more fuel for the people and provide more benefits of grid electricity for the poor people.
It was also stated that there is no use in stopping the protests by deploying the police and the army without providing solutions to the problems there, and telling people to stay at home. It was also pointed out that there are solutions to the existing problems, but as long as the Rajapaksa’s are in power, they will not be solved.
Almost all the problems in this country were pointed out, that the Rajapaksa’s involvement in the fuel and gas issue should be stopped, that foreign companies are coming for political reasons, and that government officials are also responsible for this crisis. Solutions were also presented.
