The Director General of the State Intelligence Service, Major General Suresh Sale, has sent a letter to the IGP requesting an impartial inquiry.
The Director General of the State Intelligence Service (SIS) Major General Suresh Sale has sent a letter to the IGP requesting an impartial inquiry into the baseless allegations made by MP Manusha Nanayakkara in Parliament recently. Accordingly, he has instructed the Speaker of Parliament to take necessary action regarding the making of baseless and misleading allegations.
According to the Sri Lanka Guardian news website, the letter states that the Member of Parliament had abused his parliamentary privileges by personally targeting SIS, the head of Sri Lanka’s top intelligence unit.
While denying all baseless allegations leveled against him by the MP, the letter reiterated that he had nothing to do with the Easter attack on Major General Suresh Saleh or any other terrorist activities.
“Three years have passed since the attack and I have testified before Parliament and the Presidential Commission as well as the CID several times. There is not enough evidence in any investigation to suggest or involve me in these attacks. “
He further stated that he was deeply concerned about the consequences of such baseless allegations. “Such baseless statements by politicians pose a risk of creating serious problems and an environment. As a result, my family and I are at greater risk, and our safety is at stake. “
“I am confident that an impartial inquiry into the allegations made by Manusha Nanayakkara will benefit all. I would be very grateful if you could take the necessary steps to launch an investigation into this as soon as possible. ” He concluded his article by saying:
The Aruna newspaper further reports that the IGP has informed the Speaker about this.
