It is reported that the customers of 11 rural banks belonging to Maharagama Various Services Cooperative Society have defrauded 33,000 depositors of more than 105 crore rupees by its officials.
About 25 crores of these deposits have been given as loans and the remaining 80 crores of deposits are not available in the banks.
According to that, out of the 25 crore rupees paid as loan, the loan period of 17 crore rupees has expired, and its officers have mortgaged the headquarters building of the Various Services Cooperative Society and taken a loan amount of three crore thirty five lakh rupees, and a plot of land is also available. It is further reported that it has been mortgaged.
The customers state that these officers have obtained a loan of seven crore ninety eight lakh rupees by keeping a fixed deposit of Rs.
