It is reported that the leprosy prevention unit of the Ministry of Health has said that 10% of leprosy patients in Sri Lanka are children under 14 years of age.
Its expert Dr. Prasad Ranawira said that in a country where leprosy is well controlled, the percentage of child leprosy patients should be less than 4%.
In the first 9 months of this year, 1155 leprosy cases have been reported.
