It is reported that 28 suspects have been arrested in an operation carried out jointly by the police and the army in the Sinhapura area of Wellampitiya.
This operation has been implemented due to the presence of organized crime gang members, increase in crime and drugs and it is said that 138 police officers and 200 army officers are involved.
The operation has been carried out on the instructions of Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Western Province Deshbandu Tennakoon, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Western South Gayanga Marapana, Director of Western South Crime Division, Superintendent of Police Lalis Abeysekera and 61 houses and 196 persons have been checked under the operation.
Heroin, ice, illegal drugs, swords, manna, prohibited knives and 12 mobile phones were found there.
28 suspects have been arrested.
