It is reported that 06 students of the 04th year of the university have been arrested for the torture of a female student of Sabaragamuwa University.
In this regard, on the 14th of last 1997, based on a complaint received at the telephone center, the Samanalaweva Police Station conducted an investigation and arrested the suspects.
Police say that the suspected students are a group of students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Language Education of Sabaragamuwa University.
They were arrested yesterday (28) after arriving at Samanalawewa Police Station.
The arrested students are 23, 24 and 25 years old and are residents of Morawaka, Rukgahawila, Aluhtarama, Imaduwa and Kitalawa areas, the police said.
The Samanalaweva Police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
