It is reported that the Department of Agricultural Development has said that 960 crore rupees have been given to the farmers for agricultural activities related to paddy cultivation in the 2023/24 season.
Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera, the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, has mentioned that upon the approval of the Council of Ministers, steps have been taken to credit the farmers’ accounts for paddy cultivation in the high season and related agricultural activities.
Accordingly, the government has decided to give the money to 12 lakh farmers at the rate of 15,000 rupees per hectare.
Agricultural Commissioner General A. said that 9.6 billion rupees have been credited to the farmers’ accounts. M. H. L. Abeyratne has said.
He also said that another 450 million rupees is to be credited to the farmer’s account today, and by now 93 percent of the total paddy farmers have been credited with the 15,000 rupees allowance for agricultural activities including the purchase of fertilizers in connection with paddy cultivation in the high season.
