According to the report, China has already invested 2.19 billion US dollars in Hambantota port, and because of that, Sri Lanka’s Hambantota port may be the most suitable place for it.
Also, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army currently has only one naval base in Juboti, a state in East Africa, and due to the warming of relations between the United States and China, China has decided to match the maritime power of the United States. The report further mentioned that China can control the port.
Considering China’s support to Sri Lanka at the United Nations, China’s popularity in Sri Lanka and China’s investments in Sri Lanka, it is reported that Sri Lanka is in the lead among countries that can host China for the construction of a naval base. .
