It is reported that an officer of the department demanded a bribe of 130 million rupees from “Kudu Salindu” aka Salindu Malshaka, an underworld criminal detained in the Criminal Investigation Department.
It is said that this was revealed when Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage came yesterday (26) to observe the suspect detained at the Colombo Criminal Investigation Department premises.
The suspect told the Magistrate that an officer of the Criminal Investigation Department had asked him for a bribe, and that he had informed the station commander of the department on May 31.
It is reported that the Magistrate has ordered the Inspector General of Police to conduct an immediate investigation and submit a report.
