It is reported that the President’s Office has decided not to allocate money for electricity, water and telephone charges in the residences of former presidents from now on.
It is said that today (25) the Attorney General has ordered this when a former President’s chief of staff submitted the bills related to the last month to the President’s office.
Accordingly, it is reported that the former presidents are only entitled to the official housing, vehicle maintenance and fuel allowance provided by the government, and that is according to a judgment given by the former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva when Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa was the president regarding the privileges and allowances to be given to the former president Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranaike.
