It is reported that the Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardena has stated that he hopes to conduct an international tender for the sale of unused old machinery and iron belonging to the Railway Department.
Speaking in the Parliament today (25), the minister said that the previous method was only distribution of iron from a few local companies at a very low price, so the new method will be adopted in the future to stop that method.
Furthermore, the minister has stated that since the statements made by some parties regarding the imported railway carriages are not true, the General Manager of Railways has been ordered to investigate and prepare a report and will prepare to submit it to the Parliament in the future.
