It is reported that about 15 acres of land has been damaged by a fire that broke out this afternoon (19) in the Uduhawara Atoluva Kanda reserve belonging to the Ambagasdowa police domain.
This reserve, located near Uduhawara Maha Vidyalaya, has a large number of different types of plants including turpentine and it is said that the fire has spread rapidly due to the prevailing dry weather.
Ambagasdowa police, forest conservation officers and local residents made great efforts to control the fire due to the prevailing wind condition and dry plants, but it has not been possible to control the fire even now.
It is suspected that this fire may have been done by some person or group to hunt animals or on some other matter and the Ambagasdowa Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
