It is reported that the airport and airline company stated that in the first quarter of this year, the number of aircraft operations in Sri Lanka increased by 7% and passenger operations increased by 20% compared to last year.
Accordingly, the number of air passenger operations which was 13,74,130 in the first quarter of last year has grown to 16,51,39 in the first quarter of this year, and the number of aircraft operations which was 9,357 last year has increased in the first quarter of this year. It is said that it has increased to ten thousand and eighteen.
It is also reported that at present, Katunayake International Airport serves more than eighteen thousand air passengers and about one hundred and twenty aircrafts daily.
