It is reported that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka stated that the postal department has recorded an operating loss of seven billion rupees last year.
Postmaster General Ruwan Satkumara has stated that the Ceylon Transport Board and the Railway Department have to pay a lot of money for postal transport, and the amount paid to the Railway Department has increased by six hundred percent.
Also, according to the financial statements of the postal department, the income of the postal department has increased by 29.6% to 9.3 billion rupees, but the operating expenses of the postal department have increased by 15.3% to 16.1 billion rupees, the Central Bank has stated.
