It is reported that the Minister of State for Technology Mr. Kanaka Herath has announced that people will be able to get vehicle revenue licenses from their homes from October 7th.
Attending a press conference held at the Presidential Media Centre, he said that the people of all provinces except the people of the Western Province can avail the facility.
“Now we have started the program of providing vehicle revenue license through online service. From the 7th, anyone can go to the website of the motor transport department of any province and get their vehicle revenue license online. In the first month, Western Province has not yet been included. All the other 8 provinces are preparing.”
Minister of State Kanaka Herath has also mentioned that a pilot project has been started by selecting nine government institutions including divisional secretariat divisions, divisional councils, municipal councils, district secretariats and digitizing the public service.
“Payments for all government services are going to be converted into online payments. We have started a pilot project by selecting 9 government institutions including regional secretariat divisions, regional councils, as well as municipal councils and district secretariats. We have implemented the project within this month and we have prepared a system to pay all the services online to the customer from home. We hope to provide 100% online payment services by March 30 next year.”
