It is reported that the Minister of State for Transport, Mr. Lasantha Alagiyawanna, said that he hopes to introduce the necessary legal framework within a month to obtain compensation for the victims of road accidents without going to court.
Accordingly, he mentioned that the regulations for this have already been prepared and that the party involved in the car accident will have the ability to get compensation up to five lakh rupees without going to the court.
Also, if the amount of five lakhs is not enough for the victims according to the nature of the accident, then there is the possibility to go to the court and get compensation, and the gazette for this purpose will be issued as soon as possible. The Minister further stated that this system is going to be introduced with the aim of providing some relief to the aggrieved party as it is difficult to apply for it.
