It is reported that Dr. Dushyantha Medagedara, a respiratory disease specialist at the Kandy National Hospital, said today (18) while participating in an International Asthma Day commemoration program held in Kandy, that five hundred thousand people die every year due to asthma.
Dr. Dushyantha Medgedara, Kandy National Hospital’s respiratory specialist, who commented further in this regard,
“This is a very dangerous situation. Asthma is growing rapidly in Asian, African and South American countries as well as many other countries. The reason for this is that the general public is not aware of the disease. The situation is the same in Sri Lanka. We especially request the people of the country. , the teachers ask that if you have persistent cough, wheezing, ‘rung-rung’ sound in the chest, frequent sneezing, itchy eyes and nose, as well as frequent fever, see a qualified doctor immediately and find out about it.
Asthma cannot be cured by Nitta, but if properly treated, it can be successfully controlled. If you take the medicine properly according to the doctor’s instructions, you can lead a normal life. The dangerous situation here is that if a person with asthma develops pneumonia, corona, flu, or colds, the condition may worsen.”
