It is reported that the Ceylon Electricity Board issued a notice today (18) to refrain from flying kites in the Hambantota – New Polpitiya 220 KV high voltage transmission line and the surrounding area.
The Electricity Board has further mentioned in the announcement that since kites are flying in the areas around Polpitiya these days, the kites often get entangled in the power lines and it has a negative effect on the laying of power lines.
They have also stated that the work of connecting the cables of the new Polpitiya high transmission line will be completed in about a week.
