Yesterday afternoon (9) a six-month-old child died in an accident where a bus overturned at Gurulupotha area on the Mahianganaya road in Kandy.
According to the report, the accident happened to a private bus which was returning from a pilgrimage and the bus overturned due to the failure of the brakes of the bus while the bus was running and the driver directed the bus to an earthen mound near the road.
Due to the accident, 21 people including the bus driver were injured and admitted to Hasalaka and Mahiyangana hospitals.
There were 8 men, 10 women and 3 small children among those who were taken to the hospital, and among them, a 6-month-old child died.
According to the report, all of them are residents of Bibila area.
