A POLICE HEAD IN SRI LANKA HAS THREATENED TO ANOTHER HEAD.

The latest additions to the list of notorious criminals in Sri Lanka are reported by the Sri Lanka Police Department. It’s not their fault either. It is a result of the gift given to us by the corrupt people who have ruled this country for a long time. Many people hope that Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Nilantha Jayawardena will be appointed as the Inspector General of Police, but the decision of the fundamental rights petition related to the Easter incident will probably prevent him from doing so.

Also in the same incident, another senior police officer, SSP Sisirada, who was caught with ganja, is now suspended. Among them, people strongly reject Deshbandu. But Podujana Peramuna is preparing to become Inspector General of Police, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Deshabandhu Tennakoon. He has become a figure for the police department, but the general public has a strong distaste for him regardless of party and opposition differences. He made a mistake by attacking the “Gota Go village” where Gall Face was located. It is a huge crime that he has committed. His attempt to make the Inspector General of Police is likely to create such strong opposition that all the communities come together to protest.

On the same day, we reported that the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, Deshbandu Tennakoon, pressured President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to hand over the money found in the Presidential Palace to a minister without presenting it to the court. Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Wickramasinghe informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (13) that the Senior DIG threatened him for reporting the facts to the court about that effect.

He stated that he was threatened with phone calls and threats such as ‘I will take care of you in the future’. He also informed that he informed the Inspector General of Police in this regard. Also, Mr. Wickramasinghe stated that he is afraid that Deshabandu Tennakoon will get involved in some other incident to take revenge on him or endanger his life or that of his family.

Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Wickramasinghe informed the court that he has used notes regarding Deshbandu Tennakone’s threat and hopes to file a complaint with the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission in the future.

After the notification, the lawyers appearing for this case stated that because Mr. Wickramasinghe submitted the relevant report to the court according to a court order, threatening him was an insult to the court. The lawyers also stated that this is an offense under the protection of witnesses and victims.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage stated that after receiving the phone analysis reports regarding Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon’s threat to the Director of the Special Investigation Unit, he will consider it.

He also informed the Police Special Investigation Unit that the Inspector General had informed the Court to take permission from the Court to transfer these investigations from the Police Special Investigation Unit to the Criminal Investigation Department. The lawyers who protested said that the investigation should be handed over to another unit by the Inspector General of Police and that the intervention of the court is not necessary. The lawyers pointed out that the Inspector General of Police has to hand over the investigation to another division only if the Special Investigation Unit does not investigate properly, and that there is no need to hand over the investigation to another division because the Police Special Investigation Unit is conducting the investigation in a proper manner.

A group of youths found nearly five hundred thousand rupees in the President’s Secretariat in Gotabaya Rajapakse’s bedroom on July 9 and handed it over to the Fort Police Station Commander. The Fort Police Station Commander had previously told the court that Deshbandu Tennakoon informed him over the phone to give the money handed over to Minister Tiran Alas without presenting it to the court.

Instead of arresting Deshbandu Tennakon who influenced in this way, after Fort police arrested the group of youths who found this money, on the request of the lawyers, the police special investigation unit is conducting this investigation according to an order given by the court to hand over this investigation to the police special investigation unit.
