It is reported that a psychological unit has been started for the first time in the history of the Police Special Task Force.
Accordingly, it is stated that the purpose of this unit is to identify mental problems and drug problems of Special Task Force officers in a post-war period and economic crisis and strengthen the minds of officers to cope with those situations successfully by identifying job pressures.
It is reported that 16 officers who have studied counseling psychology diploma course have been joined to the newly started psychology unit and among these officers there are chief police inspectors and police inspectors.
Also, according to the concept of the Commander of the Police Special Task Force and Deputy Inspector General of Police Varuna Jayasundara, under his guidance, under the guidance of Deputy Commander (Control) Atula Davulugala, the Department of Philosophy and Psychology of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura, the Chief Counsel Rehabilitation Bureau, the Chairman People’s Scholars Forum and the Malaysian Lincoln It is stated that this unit will be implemented under the resource contribution and expert guidance of Senior Professor Gnanadasa Perera, Director of the Mental Health Foundation affiliated to the University.
