It is reported that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a special committee headed by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to look into the affairs of local government institutions.
This committee has given the necessary guidance to carry out all the tasks that should be done by the people from the local government bodies which are currently under the bureaucratic control.
State Minister for Provincial Councils and Local Government Janaka Wakkambura, State Minister for Finance, Provincial Governors, Chairpersons of District Coordination Committees have been appointed as other members of this committee.
Meanwhile, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a committee headed by Member of Parliament Vajira Abeywardene to look into the affairs of the provincial councils which are currently under the control of the governors.
