The Speaker has ordered a special investigation into the incident between State Minister Diana Gamage and MPs Rohana Bandara and Sujith Sanjay Perera in the Parliament premises and it is reported that steps have been taken to appoint a special committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksa.
State Minister Mrs. Diana Gamage made a statement in Parliament that she was assaulted by an MP outside the Parliament chamber this afternoon (20). At the same time, Parliament was adjourned for 10 minutes as per the Prime Minister’s proposal.
MPs Chamal Rajapaksa, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Imityas Bakir and Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana have been named as other members of the inquiry committee headed by Deputy Speaker Mr. Ajith Rajapaksa.
