It is reported that a special meeting of the Constituent Assembly is scheduled to be held tomorrow (09) at 12.00 noon in the Parliament under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to take the final decision regarding the appointment of new members for the other four independent commissions including the Election Commission in the next few days.
That the appointment of other commissions including the Election Commission is a futile act, that those commissions are expected to be appointed as soon as possible and five independent commissions have already been appointed by the Constituent Assembly, in the event that the election is postponed, new members for the Election Commission Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has stated that there will be no obstacle to the appointment.
