It is reported that the police has issued a special notification to assist the vehicles if they are stopped by the security personnel engaged in roadblock duty at night.
It is stated that this announcement has been made by the Police Media Spokesman, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Nihal Talduwa, based on an incident where police special forces officers fired into the air to stop a small lorry that was running continuously due to a roadblock in Weligama – Denipitiya area.
As a result of a small lorry driving continuously in defiance of orders due to an immediate roadblock that was used in the above mentioned area, two shots were fired in the air by the officers who were on duty.
