It is reported that the department has informed that certified copies of birth, marriage and death certificates issued by the Registrar General’s Department will not be invalidated after 06 months, and accordingly, the previous regulation that the documents are valid for 6 months has been removed.
It is also stated that if there is a certified copy of any certificate issued, there is no need to obtain a new copy. In this regard, the Registrar General’s Department has informed the Ministries of Education, Foreign Affairs and the Department of Immigration and Registration of Persons.
The department further states that, however, a new copy should be submitted only if an amendment has been made to a birth, marriage and death record.
