After a program held in Dehiowita this morning (11), State Minister of Finance Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya stated to the media that due to the strengthening of the rupee against the dollar, the price of imported goods and services including food, medicine, consumer goods should decrease in the future and import restrictions will be eased. If so, it should be thoroughly investigated and done properly.
The Minister of State for Finance Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya further commented that although there is some impact on exports due to the strengthening of the rupee, it is temporary and due to the decrease in the price of raw materials and applications used in export goods, there will not be any negative impact on the export goods in the future.
