It is reported that the government has planned to take over the places of tourist attraction including waterfalls in the rural areas to the local authorities and collect a fee from the tourists.
Also, the attention of the Provincial Councils and the Ministry of Local Government is focused on improving the tourism facilities in such places and thus the Ministry has planned to provide an amount of ten million rupees to the local government offices to improve the tourism facilities.
State Minister for Provincial Councils and Local Government Mr. Janaka Vakkambura stated that although some local government bodies charge money from the tourists who come to visit the waterfalls, there are not even the basic facilities required by the tourists in those places. and that tourism facilities will be improved.
Also, the minister further mentioned that they are working to streamline the waste management in every local government agency.
