It is reported that the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a young man who claims to have participated in an extremist lecture and weapons training camp conducted by Mohammad Saharan in Hambantota Settikulama area.
It is reported that the Anti-Terrorism and Investigation Division has informed the court that it was discovered through the phone data that the suspect participated in this extremist training program.
It is said that this lecture was held on 21st and 22nd of July 2018 in Settikulama area of Hambantota as a preparation for the Easter Sunday terror attack. Also, a residential training camp was held there which included extremist lectures and untrained people.
The arrested youth is Ajmal Zaheer, a 23-year-old resident of Velambada area of Gampola, who was studying a computer course at Nawala Open University.
